Hong AM Chinese Kitchen
About This Spot
Stepping into Hong AM Chinese Kitchen in the heart of the City of Orange, you immediately sense a neighborhood spot shaped by years of steady rhythm and familiar faces. The space is no-frills—clean and unassuming—but it hums quietly with the everyday energy of a local favorite where regulars and newcomers cross paths over comforting plates. There’s a calming steady flow here, especially during off-peak hours, giving you space to settle in while city life quietly pulses outside.
The atmosphere carries a certain urban grit, a slice of New York-New Jersey culture that’s both straightforward and warm. It’s the kind of place where the staff’s brisk manner almost feels like part of the charm—a directness that hints at authenticity and a kitchen that’s focused on delivering meals with care rather than frills. The wait here is often rewarded by dishes that bring a sense of home—simple, familiar, and thoughtfully prepared.
What makes Hong AM feel like a hidden gem isn’t just what’s on the plate, but the way each meal invites you into a textured experience of Chinese-American cuisine—the kind of food that comforts with rich garlic wings, the perfect balance of crispy and tender in egg foo young, and fried rice that feels hearty without heaviness. Shrimp is plentiful and fresh, egg rolls arrive with a satisfying crunch, and dishes carry a seasoning that’s unapologetically honest, evoking memories of family dinners or late-night takeout runs.
More than just a place to eat, Hong AM is a local crossroad where different stories meet—city residents from varied backgrounds sharing a quick bite or a familiar flavor. In this straightforward space, every meal feels like a quiet celebration of everyday moments and the small joys of a well-cooked dish.

This location is clean, and since I usually go during off-peak hours, it’s never super busy. The customer service isn’t nearly as rude as some of the other reviews make it seem. The food is definitely great! So many Chinese spots in the area are either way too oily or just bad quality, this isn’t one of them. The House Special Fried Rice is delicious, with clean, fresh shrimp and plenty of meat. The fried chicken is great, and the beef lo mein is so good not oily at all. Overall, it’s the best in the area. I live about 10 minutes away and still choose this place over my local options. Pick up only. Parking lot next to the location. It’s def flavorable no soy sauce needed bc they cook with flavor for sure.

For all the Chinese food places out there, there wasn't really anything spectacular about this place, but I did not have a bad experience and the food was good. I would definitely come back here for take out. They take card which is a good thing but I heard they do not deliver. It is a convenient spot if you live in the area. I had ordered garlic Wings with Pork Fried Rice when I came here and it was very good. I look forward to trying one of my other Chinese favorites.

Yoh this spot is very New York New Jersey. Meaning it has a grittiness you only see in big cities but the food is so good. a solid hole in the wall with people of all cultures going in and coming out with New York style Chinese.

This place right here? A hidden gem. I randomly walked in on a chill evening, and baby, when I tell you the food hit like a warm hug from an auntie you ain’t seen in years? Whew. I got the shrimp lo mein, and they did not skimp on the shrimp—juicy, seasoned, and cooked just right. The egg rolls were crispy with that perfect lil’ crunch, and the duck sauce? Not that watered-down mess. This one had flavor. The lady at the counter was sweet too, real respectful, and the service was fast. It’s one of those lowkey spots that don’t need all the fancy signs or hype because the food speaks loud. I’ll definitely be back whenever I’m in the area. Don’t sleep on this spot, for real.

Rude, Delicious, and Absolutely Iconic I’ve been coming here for 9 years and let me tell you—the food is fire EVERY SINGLE TIME. Made with love, seasoned to perfection, and totally worth it. The staff? Rude… and I eat it up just like the lo mein It’s part of the experience. If you know, you know. Forever obsessed.

Fast take out Chinese. Really good. No filler loads of meat loads of flavor... Going back whenever I'm in the mood for Chinese Don't care that it's 20 minutes away.
